Virginia and Tennessee 2009

This is the adventure of our travels to VA and TN. Not all pictures from our cameras will be posted as there were several hundred. I will just attach the highlights. For those of you who are interested in the adventures of Megan, or Maggie..whatever the the baby doll's name is...her trip report will be coming soon... NOW, on with the show..

July 2- The journey begins

The most important part of every road trip is nourishment. The only nourishment that is acceptable on our trip is ice cream.

A few stops had to be made as the car kept doing some crazy stuff....
Notice the abandoned road Chadd decided to drive down...the funny thing was that the next exit was right around the curve and was full of gas stations..but we like to live on the edge of danger

a few hours later....more weird car noises

We finally made it to Cindy's B&B

"If you build it, they will come"...Dale made this patio just for us! LOL...yeah, whatever

July 3- Day in Roanoke, VA

Dale and his famous biscuits!

Do you take pictures while you're in the car wash? We do!

LUNCH!

Crazy Cat LadyWe went to Dale's farm to get our cow for the 4th of July cookout

We will be back next year for you...sorry!
Ugh...gardens...i do not know what the thrill of a garden is...all i need is Publix

Went dancing later....what pretty eyes you have Dale!

July 4- Happy 4th of July!!!

Cindy and Dale were having a cookout at their house so we got to meet several of their friends.

July 5- Lynchburg, VA

Heading out to Lynchburg for the day to see where Val went to college. The goals for the day were to go try out this hotdog eaterie (which turned out to be in a convenience store), and to go prove that someone was really dead...and yep...he's a goner

Lunch at Moore's- its in a convenience store, has a tree growing right through it....the hot dogs are red...i had chicken strips :)

This is the house where Val stayed at during college
R.I.P Jerry Falwell..

The Lynchburg bookstore will never be the same...

On the way home..the boys decided they wanted another hot dog....

July 6- On the Road again

Tennessee bound today! We left Cindy, and we headed out to Pigeon Forge, TN to our cabin in the woods.

Notice the orb near Chadd's head...we learned that is probably a spirit...I TOLD YOU THE HOUSE WAS HAUNTED!!Ate dinner at the Apple Barn...mom demanded we have some apple fritters for her.

Christmas in July

Ended the evening by flooding most of Pigeon Forge when we went in the Jacuzzi. Look at the water gushing out!!
calm before the storm..

July 7- Dollywood

We went to Dolly Wood today. Beautiful weather!! Val, Chadd, and Dale got to zip line. I was not allowed due to my knee surgery, so i went and sat with all the blue hairs (old people) and watched some hillbilly make music.

Whose Your Daddy???

Chadd- with brand new white crock-a-bee'sDale- swinging his legs like a crazy little girl
Val- what a monkey!

This is where i sat while they zip lined....Zip lining deplinished all energy...must eat sugar!!!

Will Val ever see a real bear?

Last stop- Riding the Wild Woody- Dale had never been go cart riding. Here you will see me, Chadd and Dale driving down the hill.
July 10-heading back to VA, going on a bear hunt, and when you wish upon a star

Our last day in Pigeon Forge. Before we left, we needed to go try one of the pancake houses that were every where!! And.....they were fantastic!

Val still hadn't seen a bear, and she was determined they were not in this world, so we drove through Cades Cove in hopes of finding one...and we did!!!!!!!!

If you look really close on the middle tree branch, you will see a little bit of the bear's arm hanging over the branch.Momma finally came into view

close up....

Made it back to Roanoke. After dinner at Fork in the Alley, we headed to the Roanoke Star. Our last night in Virginia...heading home tomorrow..so sad

July 11- Saying goodbye...There's no place like home...but Cindy's B&B is very close

Driving home would not be complete unless we stopped one more time for a TCBY treat!

See you next trip!!
