Happy Birthday Amy and Dad- January 2009

This year Disney is celebrating birthdays. If you go to WDW on your actual birth date, they are letting you get in the park for free. But if you already have a ticket, then they give you a gift card for 75.00 to spend at the parks. Since i was still on bed rest, and was pretty much down in the dumps thinking i was never going to bend my knee again, mom and dad took me to Disney. Plus, it was me and Dad's birthday, so we definitely wanted to take advantage of the free gift cards.

Since I couldn't bend my knee, or walk, I rented an electric scooter! It was awesome...I was treated with royal treatment by Disney and we got to cut in front of alot of lines. I may just have to be crippled more often!

Took a mid day break in the nurses station...to clean my knee!...thanks Dad

Dad likes him some popcorn!

Mousefest 2008, Dec 10-14

I am involved with an online Disney community and every year, they put on an event down at WDW called Mousefest. This event is where Disney geeks like myself go down to the parks to hang out and get lost in the magic. A few examples of some of the meets are: going through the Pirates ride and pointing out all of the Hidden Mickeys, going on a scavenger hunt through the parks, or going around the World Showcase and trying a food or drink from that region. I have met alot of really great friends, and we meet up at the parks a few times a year other then the annual Mousefest event.
Mom has gone with me the past few years, so now we make it our annual Mother Daughter trip.

Some of my Mousefest friends:

Eric, Valerie, and Heather
Jana, Mike, and kids
Eric and Jon

Knee Surgery Dec 2008

Back in October of 2008, I was on a cruise with my two friends Beth and Jean. We decided to take a dance class each night while on board. The last night's class was a mix of hip hop and country. I don't know how they thought that was acceptable, but there were plenty of blue hairs up on stage trying it out. Yep you heard me...blue hairs. There were about 20 on stage, and besides myself and Beth, the majority of the age was 70 and up! Anyway, I was one of the few who were actually getting the dance and on our final run through, i jumped in the air, cris crossed my knees, and twisted to start the dance going the other way. Well, when i twisted, i felt my knee pop and i had a terrible burning sensation . Stupid me finished the dance in agonizing pain. When i walked off the stage my knee buckled and i knew i was in trouble.

Long story short...i tore my ACL and had surgery on Dec 17. I wasn't too nervous before the surgery. Mom and Tami were there to calm me down a bit.

After surgery, I moved into mom and dad's house for recovery. They took good care of me, tending to my every need. THANK GOODNESS FOR PAIN KILLERS!!!!!!

Its been a tough battle. The day I was supposed to get my stitches out, my leg had swelled up so bad, that my incision ruptured. Soooo...after 8 weeks of bandages and Peroxide, my incision has closed up and i am on the healing path! I have been going to therapy 3 days a week since January, and i can finally go all the way around on the bike...that my friend, is a major accomplishment.

I am going on another cruise this year....but....i am NOT dancing!!!!!!!!!!!

The below pictures may be gross to some of you. Its a picture i took from my cell phone of my knee after it ruptured,,,and there is also one of what it looks like today...you have been warned.
