Knee Surgery Dec 2008

Back in October of 2008, I was on a cruise with my two friends Beth and Jean. We decided to take a dance class each night while on board. The last night's class was a mix of hip hop and country. I don't know how they thought that was acceptable, but there were plenty of blue hairs up on stage trying it out. Yep you heard me...blue hairs. There were about 20 on stage, and besides myself and Beth, the majority of the age was 70 and up! Anyway, I was one of the few who were actually getting the dance and on our final run through, i jumped in the air, cris crossed my knees, and twisted to start the dance going the other way. Well, when i twisted, i felt my knee pop and i had a terrible burning sensation . Stupid me finished the dance in agonizing pain. When i walked off the stage my knee buckled and i knew i was in trouble.

Long story short...i tore my ACL and had surgery on Dec 17. I wasn't too nervous before the surgery. Mom and Tami were there to calm me down a bit.

After surgery, I moved into mom and dad's house for recovery. They took good care of me, tending to my every need. THANK GOODNESS FOR PAIN KILLERS!!!!!!

Its been a tough battle. The day I was supposed to get my stitches out, my leg had swelled up so bad, that my incision ruptured. Soooo...after 8 weeks of bandages and Peroxide, my incision has closed up and i am on the healing path! I have been going to therapy 3 days a week since January, and i can finally go all the way around on the bike...that my friend, is a major accomplishment.

I am going on another cruise this year....but....i am NOT dancing!!!!!!!!!!!

The below pictures may be gross to some of you. Its a picture i took from my cell phone of my knee after it ruptured,,,and there is also one of what it looks like today...you have been warned.
