Shuttle Discovery - Aug 28, 2009

August 25- Shuttle Discovery was to lift off at 1:39 AM. Me and Chadd drove down to Port Canaveral to see it...it was on our bucket list. We got down there about 2 hours ahead of lift off and found our seats. There was lightning all across the water but the weather was still pretty clear. About 1:00 AM, the wind picked up, and got really cold. I was getting really nervous that they were going to cancel the lift off. And they did....10 minutes before it was set to go up, they canceled it due to weather. Me and Chadd drove back to Jacksonville...me being very sad that I was so close to seeing it go off.

August 26- Shuttle Discovery was set to lift off at 1:10 AM. Me and Chadd were going to try it again. We were about to walk out the door to start our trek down to the Cape, and there became an issue with a valve in its fuel tank. UGH.....so, we went out for Japanese with Val

After a 48 hour delay, the shuttle was going to try it again on Aug 28 at 11:59 PM. After work, we met up at Outback with Val to eat, and then me and Chadd drove down to Port Canaveral. I was so nervous, because I was so excited! Shuttle Discovery lifted off and words can not express how awesome it was! I kind of just wanted to pledge the allegiance or sing God Bless America afterwards! History was made that night as this was the last night launch ever scheduled for the space shuttles as they will retire in 2010.

The crowd anxiously awaits....
LIFT OFF!!!!

Finally! We can now get some sleep :)

Happy Birthday Taylor- July 20

For Taylor's birthday, Christy and myself took the girls (and Nicholas) down to Disney for the weekend.

Relaxing by the pool at Pop Century Resort

Free entertainment....riding the monorail over and over...just killing time waiting for dinner

We ate dinner at Kona Cafe...which is in the Polynesian Resort
They put a candle in Taylor's ice cream and sang Happy Birthday
Magic Kingdom memories..

Popsicle time!
I kind of wanted to get myself one of these laser thingies!

The morning we left, we had a Character breakfast at Ohana, also in the Polynesian Hotel.
All you can eat breakfast platters...this is the platter, not my plate

The girls really liked joining in on the parade.

The characters came around to every table....Lilo, Stitch, Mickey, Pluto

Aloha
Let the games begin!
Ready, Set Go!!!!!!!!!
Whose real and who is Lego? How do you really feel Nicholas?
The cashiers singing Happy Birthday to Taylor...the free cupcake was yummy!
Sadly, we had to leave after lunch..The weekend was alot of fun...I'm so glad the kids love Disney so much, so it gives us adults an excuse to plan future trips down there!
