Shuttle Discovery - Aug 28, 2009

August 25- Shuttle Discovery was to lift off at 1:39 AM. Me and Chadd drove down to Port Canaveral to see it...it was on our bucket list. We got down there about 2 hours ahead of lift off and found our seats. There was lightning all across the water but the weather was still pretty clear. About 1:00 AM, the wind picked up, and got really cold. I was getting really nervous that they were going to cancel the lift off. And they did....10 minutes before it was set to go up, they canceled it due to weather. Me and Chadd drove back to Jacksonville...me being very sad that I was so close to seeing it go off.

August 26- Shuttle Discovery was set to lift off at 1:10 AM. Me and Chadd were going to try it again. We were about to walk out the door to start our trek down to the Cape, and there became an issue with a valve in its fuel tank. UGH.....so, we went out for Japanese with Val

After a 48 hour delay, the shuttle was going to try it again on Aug 28 at 11:59 PM. After work, we met up at Outback with Val to eat, and then me and Chadd drove down to Port Canaveral. I was so nervous, because I was so excited! Shuttle Discovery lifted off and words can not express how awesome it was! I kind of just wanted to pledge the allegiance or sing God Bless America afterwards! History was made that night as this was the last night launch ever scheduled for the space shuttles as they will retire in 2010.

The crowd anxiously awaits....
LIFT OFF!!!!

Finally! We can now get some sleep :)
